When you re applying for a job, you should know the ways to impress your reader. In order to do this, you should create an impressive resume. That will be the manager s hint that you are a qualified applicant.

In order to make a striking CV, you should use powerful action words which will show that you re the right person for the job. You should also be aware that there are 7 words that you should avoid and they are the following:

1. Responsible for

Taking responsibility to do something is basically good; however, it will not be enough to impress your reader. It would seem like telling the potential employer that you got involved in some activities within the company. Instead of saying you are responsible for doing this or that, specify how your project was able to yield a certain increased sales figure.

2. Managed

It s OK to use this word if what you re trying to imply is that you coached, mentored, guided or controlled something; however, if what you ll mean is you managed to do something, it would not look good on your CV. Hiring managers will see you as a slacker at work who only does tasks to get by.

3. Acted as

When you use the term acted as on your CV, you would mean you did something else apart from your real job or you played someone else s role during his or her absence. If you ll say you acted as a supervisor, it will mean you temporarily took the place of someone.

4. Grew

Using this word will make your work sound like a gardener growing flowers in the garden. You can use the terms generated, increased or developed instead of using grew .

5. Was involved

Just like the term responsible for , you would make yourself sound like you re doing something and an incident called out for your participation, that s why you got involved in it.

6 Bring

To bring means to personally deliver. Do not forget that your resume should sound professional; hence, instead of using this term, you can use the word demonstrated, exhibited, displayed or arranged.

7. Assisted

This will make it sound that you only helped someone in achieving a goal. It will not give the emphasis that you teamed with an executive management in order to come up with an achievement.
